Great methods to whiten your teeth at home

by Felecia Butler

Many people desire to have whiter teeth. Over the course of time, teeth can become stained due to a number of factors such as a lack of cleaning and smoking stains. More than ever before, people are turning to over the counter products in order to try and improve their overall appearance by whitening their teeth. However, a lot of these over the counter products have a number of chemicals in them which potentially may not be healthy for the human body.

Most of all, the best way to keep your teeth looking clean and bright is to regularly clean and maintain them by using a combination of flossing and regular brushing. This will work better than any remedy out there.

Therefore, if you are adamant on not going to a professional or general dentistry clinic to get your teeth whitened, you should at least try to whiten your teeth using natural methods. Here are some great ways in which you can do just that.

Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide

This is a great combination that provides you with a natural teeth whitening solution. All you have to do is mix a small bit of hydrogen peroxide with a small amount of baking soda in order to create a paste that you can brush your teeth with. Make sure that you reach all of your teeth, right to the back when brushing, even those that cannot be seen. The reason hydrogen peroxide is used is because it is a great anti-bacterial agent and will clean both the gums and the teeth, keeping germs out of the mouth.

Baking soda is a grittier substance that you need to be careful using when brushing. You do not want to brush too hard or you may damage the enamel on your teeth. Once the solution is well mixed, it shouldn't be gritty at all.

Apple cider vinegar

This is a great way to remove stains from your teeth and to clean your gums at the same time. It has been shown to work particularly well in removing stubborn stains from nicotine and coffee. It is useful as a teeth whitener if it is used regularly and for an extended period of time.

You do need to be careful to not apply too much apple cider vinegar at any one time as excess acidity can affect the teeth's protection. When you brush your teeth using the vinegar, you should immediately brush them again, this time using a normal tooth paste and rinse your mouth well.
